Where are you from? If you’re from outside of Texas what brought you to Texas?
I’m originally from Carlsbad, New Mexico but moved to Victoria, Texas for my high school years. I moved to Austin right away after high school to go to UT and fell in love with the city, so never left!
What's a your day job?
Being a mom to my two girls - Faith, 7 years old and Kara, 6 years old.
Do you have a personal motto or something to keep you motivated when things get tough?
An oldie but goodie - when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. I’m an extreme optimist and always strive to find the good in everything - even if it’s a simple learning experience.
If you could have a dinner party with any famous people, living or dead, who would they be?
Jesus Christ - because duh! Judy Garland - I’ve been a huge Judy fan ever since I was a little girl and heard her sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. She’s amazing. Cleopatra - I’m fascinated with ancient Egyptian culture and she would have some cool stories I’m sure.
How does Green Bird Fitness help you keep in shape and move?
I’m a huge believer in music as a motivator. It makes a workout so fun when you’re listening to great jams. Plus I LOVE that feeling when you’re done with class and I fee so accomplished for giving the workout my all during that hour (or 45 minutes if it’s an express class 😉).
What’s your favorite 90s jam?
I think I listened to Garth Brooks for most of the early 90’s - I was a country girl back then so mostly country music.
Where is your favorite place to travel to?
Anywhere that has a beach! Give me sun, sand and surf and I’m a happy girl!!!
What’s your favorite “treat yoself” thing to do when stress gets high?
I love to just go take a class and workout. It’s amazing how working up a sweat and tiring out your muscles will help alleviate the stress.
What’s the last good book you read?
’ve been really into trashy romance books lately so they all kind of blend together but in a good way, haha! If that’s your thing - I’ve been really loving Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick series - funny, sweet, hot, all at the same time.
What's the funniest thing to happen to you lately?
I had a bird fly into the garage when I was parked my car the other day, only to realize that my cats were in the garage too (they have a kitty door that grants them access from the house). I had the hardest time trying to shoo the cats back in the house so I could open the door (without the cats running away) and let the poor, freaked out bird back outside. It was hilarious! Then I was eating dinner last night and saw this beggar man sitting on the patio furniture behind me (he’s not allowed inside while we eat cause he’ll steal your plate right off the table 🤣):
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. Which color would you be and why?
Turquoise- it’s a happy color, like the water in the Caribbean and my favorite.
What's your favorite exercise at the barre or on the mat?
At the Barre - I love parallel first with ball squeezes - talk about an awesome quad/inner thigh combo burn! On the mat - I totally love doing ab work with the ball under your feet. It adds just the right amount of instability like when you roll the ball in with one or or both feet while holding that C-curve in your spine - sooooo good!!!
