Work Out Wednesday

Here is a short Pilates Mat work out you can do throughout the day.

You don't need any equipment. I like to sneak this in in the morning and in the evening when I get home from work. This is a quick way to engage your core and elevate your mood.

Repeat these three movements as many times as you like. I do these three exercises about 4 times each without stopping between exercises. When you are done bring your knees to your chest and rock side to side to massage your back


Pilates Hundreds

Pump your arms up and down about 3-6 inches in each direction. Keep your belly button reaching down to the floor. Take a big inhale for 5 arm pumps and exhale for 5 arm pumps. Do 6-10 reps.


Pilates Scissors

Legs are straight here. You switch the legs as you take deep breaths. Legs can be bent if your hamstrings are tight or you need a little less intensity. 8-10 reps.



The angle with this picture is from the back, so you can see how the elbows stay wide and away from the face. The shoulders should stay lifted off the ground the entire time. You have your elbow and opposite knee meet and then switch sides. You crisscross sides 8-10 times
